Personally, my philosophy has been established and developed through the last ten years of working in field-based sports and is still continually growing. As a physiotherapist I am heavily weighted towards a rehabilitation and the nuances that comes with that territory. I view rehab as an opportunity for not only the athlete but myself. An opportunity to not only develop physical qualities in athletes that they would like to work on but also ones that are known that need development through performance objectivity. For myself, this is a unique insight into each individual’s personality and persona through a critical time in their career. My ultimate goal here is to inspire a more performance driven individual by making them more resilient, efficient, capable and forwards thinking player.
Firstly we must understand what makes the tick, what drives them. If we can tap into that we’ll be better equipped to deliver a service and a process that they can buy into and make their own. In the current game this can be performance, developmental or increasingly perception. The first two are easier to understand, as practitioner that is what we do day in day out. The latter is more complex, as the individual may respond more to a social media presence. This has is down falls as we then open the individual up to outside influences, positively or negatively. Whatever, their influence or motivation finding this gives a good foundation for success.
